William Mertins Jr. recently left Michele Harrington’s Springdale law firm to start his own practice in Fayetteville. Mertins Law Firm now occupies a 2,000-SF office suite in the former McNair Savings & Loan building at 201 N. East Ave.

Harrington is principal partner at Harrington Miller Neihouse & Krug PA, where Mertins worked for five years.

Mertins, who brought one full-time employee with him, said he wanted to start his own firm and concentrate on business litigation. He already has more than 50 clients including Lowe’s and Arkansas Insulation & Supply.

A University of Arkansas Law School grad, Mertins said he’ll focus on employment law and sexual harassment litigation and training.
