Father-and-son team Garry and Kelly Prophet created Ozark Shopper to offer online classified ads to individuals and companies in Northwest Arkansas. On the Internet at www.ozarkshopper.com, Ozark Shopper offers 10 categories of classified listings, including automobiles for sale or trade, help-wanted announcements and realty ads.
Each classified listing can include up to 5,000 words, two photographs, a small sound file and even a short video, Garry Prophet said, and the site can currently manage up to 75,000 ads.
Individuals may list items for free, but businesses must pay a small fee — $4-$7 per entry. Bulk commercial listings are less expensive than single items. For instance, a real estate agent can list 25 houses for $100, but a single entry costs $7.
Garry Prophet said the site would work well for car dealers, and he requires all listings be local to Northwest Arkansas.
Garry and Kelly Prophet have used about $8,000 to establish the site, including the cost of opening a 700-SF office in Rogers.
