Delta Systems Inc., the Bentonville-based maker of automation control systems software and devices, scored its first big sale of 2001. The W.M. Wrigley Jr. Co. plant in Flowery Branch, Ga., recently bought a substantial automation feeding and wrapping system from Delta that it will use in the production of its new Wrigley’s Eclipse breath-freshening gum.

The new sugar-free product is part of a large marketing campaign by Wrigley, and Delta’s system was viewed as critical to efficiently getting the product to market.

Ron Hooper, Wrigley’s plant engineer, said Delta’s automation controls were chosen for their precision, flexibility and low maintenance. Details of the sale weren’t immediately available.

Delta is traded publicly on the Canadian Venture Exchange.
