Cooper Continues Growth in South

Cooper Homes Inc. of Bella Vista on Feb. 12 secured a $26 million loan from Bank of America to build townhouses and homes throughout its properties in a four-state area, including Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina.

Seven new projects will be going up in Bella Vista, including two 1,562-SF townhouses at Phase II of Brittany Courts. Others include a trio of homes (1,850 SF each) in the Monikie subdivision, one 1,654-SF home in the Forrest Hills subdivision, and one 1,600-SF home in Renfrew subdivision.

Fort Smith to Get Holiday Inn Express

Holiday Inn Express will open a $3.5 million, 63-unit hotel in Fort Smith late this year.

The new hotel, a new prototype design aimed at the business traveler, will be located at Phoenix Avenue and 70th Street in Executive Park.

Amenities at the new hotel include airport pickup service, suites, a special bridal suite, business center, exercise room, guest laundry, 25-inch televisions, a breakfast/great room area, 50-person meeting room and an enclosed pool and spa.

Construction is expected to be completed by December.

There is already a Holiday Inn Express in nearby Van Buren. Calvin Remy is the owner of both the Van Buren and Fort Smith locations. The Fort Smith hotel is expected to provide between 15 and 20 new jobs to the area.

Bentonville’s Bell Has Large Addition

Southwestern Bell Corp. recently purchased a building permit valued at $2.57 million to build an extension to its Bentonville offices.

Located at 207 SW A St., Bell is adding 10,867 SF to its existing space.

Lowell Business Adds More Space

Shaw Material Real Estate Investments Inc. of Memphis on March 2 got a $1.22 million loan from Commercial Bank & Trust to add on to its Lowell business.

Shawn Material Handling Systems Inc. in Lowell, which sells, leases and services fork lifts, had 2,310 SF added on to its existing building at 814 S. Bloomington St. Jonathan Barnett Enterprises of Siloam Springs did the construction.

Bank Among Businesses Moving to Commerce Park

Nabholz Construction Corp. of Rogers on March 13 purchased a building permit valued at $854,500 to build a 5,500-SF Hometown Financial bank at Commerce Park in northeast Fayetteville.

Commerce Park will have four office buildings totaling 70,000 SF on the corner of Joyce Boulevard and Old Missouri Road in Fayetteville, just west of Paradise Valley Golf and Athletic Club and east of Butterfield Trail Village.

Investors in Commerce Park include Ben Israel of Dixie Management & Investments, Joe Kleine, B.W. Dykes, Dr. David Cannon and Owen Bushaw.

Hometown Financial will be in one building. Other tenants already signing leases include Bodiford Eye Clinic and Surgery Center in 12,000 SF, a government agency in 11,500 SF and two medical clinics in 12,000 SF each. Bodiford is headquartered in Fort Smith.

Two of the buildings will be two-level structures.

About 400 feet of Commerce Park property will front Joyce while another 400 feet will front Old Missouri.

The target date for having the initial tenants in Commerce Park will be this fall.

Lindsey, Elsass Busy With Many Projects

John David Lindsey and Kirk Elsass of L&E Equity Investments on Feb. 23 secured a loan for $385,050 from Arvest McIlroy Bank of Fayetteville to build five new homes at a Rogers subdivision. L&E also got five loans totaling $393,975 from First Security Bank of Rogers for the construction of more homes at the same site.

Hiett Valley subdivision is located just off Monte Ne Road.

The homes will range from 1,200 to 1,300 SF and will be valued from $85,000 to $92,000.

There are 23 lots in all at Hiett Valley.

Fifteen of the homes are under construction with the remaining eight to begin in early April.

L&E will begin construction in April on nine new houses at Bentonville’s Maidstone subdivision. Lance Johnson Builders will have three of those homes, while Woodworks Plus Inc. of Farmington will be building the other six. Those homes will range from 1,700 to 2,000 SF and be priced from $140,000 to $150,000.

Also building at Maidstone is Providence Homes, which obtained two building permits recently valued at a combined $325,000 to build homes at 606 and 700 SW Duke Ave.

L&E will be building two more homes in Fayetteville’s Candlewood subdivision in early April. The homes, located on lots 54 and 57, will be about $400,000 each and will range from 3,100 to 3,300 SF.

Lindsey has also purchased the 20 remaining lots at Lowell’s Cambridge subdivision from Mike Pennington. Woodworks Plus will be building 10 of the houses.

M.P. Construction Adding Fayetteville Townhouses

M.P. Construction Co. recently purchased six more building permits valued at a combined $482,678 for Fayetteville townhouses.

David Chance of Lowell will have four of the townhouses with 1,435 SF each. They will be on 811, 823, 829 and 837 W. Peachtree Dr.

Bleaux Barnes of Springdale will have two of the new townhouses, located at 1619 and 1632 Des Arc Way. Those townhouses will be about 1,335 SF each.

Fayetteville Gets More Legend Builders’ Homes

Legend Builders Inc. of Springdale on March 14 purchased two building permits valued at a combined $387,200 to build two new east Fayetteville homes.

One house will be 3,302 SF and will be located at 1316 N. Amberwood Lane. The other will be 2,885 SF and will be located at 3499 E. Township Road.

Rogers Church Plans to Complete Top Level

Central United Methodist Church of Rogers recently purchased a building permit valued at $338,700 to complete and remodel its top level.

The construction on the church, located at 2535 W. New Hope Rd., is being done by Kinco Inc. Constructors of Springdale.

Southfork Phase III Continues Addition

Tim Graham of Saddlewood Development Inc. in Springdale recently purchased four building permits valued at a combined $323,136 to build four more homes at a Lowell subdivision.

Phase III of the Southfork subdivision, located in southeast Lowell, will have 224 lots in all.

The latest additions will be at 510, 511, 513 and 515 Crystal St. Each home is 1,200 SF.
