Signature Square Filling With Tenants

Signature Square, a recently completed 50,000-SF shopping center on the east side of Springdale, was at half capacity as of mid-October, says Donna Stewart, property manager for Schmieding-Brandon Properties, owner of the complex.

Signature Square has six new tenants since we last wrote about it in April. At that time, Signature Cleaners and Joe McCutchen’s Medical Specialties were the only tenants on board. Since then, the following businesses have opened there: Mazzio’s Pizza; a branch of the Bank of Arkansas; a 5,600-SF Fantastic Flicks video store; Wireless One, a pager and cellular telephone store; Creative Network Concepts, a computer network consulting firm and a business Internet service provider; and Snip N’ Clip, a hair salon.

Roots & Fruits, a 4,576-SF specialty store, is scheduled to open in Signature Square by March 1, 1998.

“It’s an upscale produce store that also handles flowers and gourmet foods,” says Kathy Mayhue, owner of the business. “We will also make gift baskets.”

Mayhue says the store will sell organic produce, fresh bread from a local bakery and salads to go.

The complex, which cost more than $3.5 million to develop, will contain 25 to 40 stores and offices depending on how the space is divided up, says Gary Brandon of Schmieding-Brandon Properties, owner of the complex. Although construction of the outside of the center is complete, interiors are finished after tenants lease space.

The shopping center consists of four to five buildings, depending on what you consider a separate building, he says. Offices will occupy 20 to 25 percent of the space in the complex.

Brandon says most shops in the complex will be from 1,500 to 4,000 SF in size.
