A Springdale produce store and two Fayetteville restaurants have recently closed.

n Roots & Fruits, a 4,576-SF specialty grocery store in Springdale’s Signature Square shopping center, closed in early June. The upscale produce store opened March 5.

Kathy Mayhue, owner of the business, slashed prices to more than half off to liquidate the stock. She couldn’t be reached for comment.

n Touche Restaurant at 1733 N. Crossover Road quietly closed this spring.

Tuyen Bui, the owner of the business, was unavailable for comment.

Touche served “continental cuisine with an international flare,” Bui said in a previous interview. He had stopped serving lunch at the restaurant during the winter but said he planned to resume the midday meals during the spring.

Bui, a former manager of The Old Post Office restaurant in Fayetteville, opened Touche last June in the building that also houses Trends & Traditions, a gift shop.

n Bud’s Bus Stop Barbecue at 815 S. School Ave. closed at the end of June.

Bud’s advertised “fine Southern foods” served in the dinnerware of Arirang, a Korean restaurant that occupied the building before Bud’s.

The barbecue eatery was well known for its array of hot sauces. At least three different bottles, containing sauces of varying degrees of spiciness, accompanied each meal.

“It’s just getting so expensive to do business in Fayetteville, and they raised my rent, so that just put it over the edge,” says owner Bud Graupner who has operated the business at its current location for the past two years.

Graupner says he may try to market his sauces, spices and vegetarian barbecue to local stores.
