Springdale Charity Awards Grants
Springdale’s Northwest Arkansas Community Foundation on Jan. 24 awarded five grants totaling $48, 600 to local nonprofit organizations.
The money came from a NWACF fund established by the Northwest Medical Auxiliary within the foundation. Micki Harrington, vice chair of the NWACF board, said the grants will help the foundation fulfill its goal of helping clients throughout the area.
A publicly supported, grant-making charity, NWACF is structured as a group of endowed funds. It was founded in 1998 as the Community Foundation of Bentonville/Bella Vista and was expanded to include Washington, Benton, Madison and Carroll counties.
This was the first round of grants issued by NWACF in 2001. Connie Hendrix-Kral, the foundation’s spokeswoman, said they included the organization’s first award in Siloam Springs. She said the next round of grants from the Medical Auxiliary fund will come in April.
Last year, the foundation gave out more than 37 grants totaling $991,025.
