Britt-ish Intelligence
Former Tyson Foods Inc. CEO Wayne Britt now commutes to work across the pond — and we don’t mean the No. 13 water hazard at Pinnacle Country Club.
Back in the fall, Britt became chairman of Spectral Fusion Technologies in Birmingham, England. He flies over one week per month to help the startup, referred to in the empire as an “intellectual technology” firm.
Spectral makes X-ray systems used in food inspection machines and got acquainted with Britt while serving as a vendor to Tyson. But the IT company’s main gig is developing artificial intelligence using a ground-breaking photo diode sensor and neural computer system.
The system’s unique because most computers answer “yes” or “no” questions. Neural computers weigh decisions by considering a number of factors, thereby simulating human reason. New applications are still being discovered.
Britt has spent most of the last eight months trying to trim strokes off his 14-handicap golf game. He officially retired from Tyson after 24 years on May 1, but he is receiving $1 million over seven years to serve as a company consultant. He’s also still got Tyson stock options and health benefits.
