Dr. Peter Xaysanasy opened the Northwest Arkansas Podiatry Center to offer a family practice for foot problems. The doctor’s 1,650-SF office houses three fully equipped exam rooms, an X-ray machine and one surgery suite. He estimated the clinic’s start-up costs at $80,000.

The center manages regular podiatry procedures and minor surgeries for pediatric to geriatric patients. Major operations will be conducted in a hospital, Xaysanasy said, and he plans to apply for medical privileges at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale and the Arkansas Surgery Center of Fayetteville.

Same-day diagnostics and treatment set the Northwest Arkansas Podiatry Center apart from other providers in the area, Xaysanasy said.

Xaysanasy, who is originally from Northwest Arkansas, graduated from the University of Arkansas before working at Tyson Foods Inc. as a quality assurance chemist. He then attended the New York College of Podiatric Medicine before completing a residency split between Gouvemeur Hospital in New York City and Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, N.Y.

Xaysanasy’s clinic each month manages care for about 25 patients, most of whom are nursing home residents.
