Arkansas Business Publishing Group, which owns Arkansas Business, Northwest Arkansas Business Journal and 20 specialty print publications, launched www.arkansasbusiness.com in December.

The Web site also represents ABPG’s first foray into daily news.

“We are now producing a daily news product,” company president Jeff Hankins said. “We have always had access to daily business news, but we didn’t have a medium to distribute it.”

In its first week, arkansasbusiness.com was the first news source in Arkansas to report the effect on J.B. Hunt Transport Services’ stock of the announced merger of two companies, M.S. Carriers and Swift Transportation, that are partners with Hunt in an online logistics company.

Daily news will be posted by noon, but breaking business news will be posted on arkansasbusiness.com at any time during the day.

“Updates are totally dictated by the news,” Hankins said.

Arkansasbusiness.com replaces abnews.com, the 6-year-old Web site on which limited offerings from the Arkansas Business print product were posted once a week. At no cost to readers who complete a onetime registration, the new site brings together virtually all of the content from the weekly Arkansas Business, the fortnightly Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, and information from many of ABPG’s other business publications.

Registered users may also sign up for free daily news updates delivered by e-mail and news archives, a calendar of events and various business databases that are available.
