Cool Ideas has opened in Rogers to offer Northwest Arkansas an affordable alternative to traditional residential interior design. Instead of refurnishing a room with all-new decorations, owners Hannah Witcofski and Taryn Lee try to depend on existing furniture and accents to rejuvenate the space.

“A lot of people don’t even think about taking stuff out of other rooms,” Witcofski said. “It’s a lot more affordable.” She said attics and storage rooms sometimes hide perfect stock for designing a room.

Rather than suggest that a scruffy end table be replaced, Cool Ideas might suggest that it be refinished to create a desired look.

Although Cool Ideas offers such solutions to design problems, it also offers more traditional decorating. Recommendations are made to customers who prefer new decorations and fixtures.

After a free consultation, Cool Ideas charges $30 for each hour of work.

Holiday decorating for businesses and homes has increased the workload for Cool Ideas.

Witcofski, of Rogers, and Lee, of Fayetteville, who are both interior design majors at the University of Arkansas, work from their homes to coordinate decorating projects. About $300 started the business, which caters mainly to residential design.
