Ten years of flower designing finally bloomed into Dana Cale’s first business venture — Designs By Dana. Cale managed floral shops in South Dakota and California before opening her own upscale, full-service, 2,500-SF shop in Northwest Arkansas.

Designs By Dana is actually more than a standard flower delivery and wiring service. The shop, in the booming east Fayetteville Crossroads Village, operates a full store front and is stocked with holiday home decorations. Motif-dressed trees and figurines fill the space, and the pending holidays have put the staff of five into high gear.

Cale’s shop also offers silk and fresh flower arrangements for any occasion, including weddings, funerals, births, parties, company picnics and family reunions.

Businesses in the area can set up corporate accounts with Designs By Dana to have their arrangements freshened regularly.

Cale said she spent more than $100,000 to stock and open the store. Coolers for fresh flowers, delivery vehicles and a computer system were the most expensive initial investments, she said.
