JD China Plans New Building

JD China, a Chinese restaurant that has been in Fayetteville’s Evelyn Hills Shopping Center for the past 15 years, plans to build a 7,000-SF building on the city’s Sixth Street between Burger King and Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store.

JD’s owners, Jennifer and Douglas Lee, hope to move into the new building in January or February, but construction delays may push that back to March.

Jennifer Lee said the couple is in the process of buying the land, but a stipulation by the previous owner that six trees on the lot be preserved has made it difficult to design a building and get the construction underway. Each of the six trees is more than 100 years old, she said.

The move will more than double the size of the restaurant (from its current 3,000-SF location) and will provide room for a drive-up window for to-go orders.
