Southwestern Energy Co. announced on Nov. 14 that a successful initial flow test had been conducted at the Robertson oil well on the Havilah prospect in Lafayette Parish, La.

Robertson tested at a daily rate of 7 million cubic feet of gas and 245 barrels of condensate at a depth of 14,500 feet, topping the production rates of another Southwestern Energy south Louisiana discovery, the Dugas & LeBlanc well.

Earlier this year, the Dugas well produced 5.4 million cubic feet of gas per day and 150 barrels of condesate per day.

Initial production has been tentatively scheduled for the end of the year, pending construction of the production facilities. Southwestern Energy operates the well and holds 27.5 percent of the working interest.

Exploratory wells on the gulf coast are part of an effort to expand the exploration and production part of the business. Arkansas Western Gas, Southwestern Energy’s remaining natural gas utility, is for sale.
