Sara McCoy, a podiatrist, recently opened her first practice in Fayetteville — Ozark Surgical & Medical Foot Care.

A majority of her patients are elderly, and many of them live in the Butterfield Trail Village Retirement Community across the street from her office. But McCoy also treats sports injuries.

Consultations for surgery, toenail and wart procedures, and skin problems are managed in McCoy’s office. She carries out surgeries and more complex procedures in local hospitals and surgery centers.

McCoy and her husband Mike McCoy staff the Fayetteville office, and they chose their location for several reasons. In addition to the proximity of the office to the retirement village, it also has excellent wheelchair accessibility and several other nearby physicians, Mike McCoy said.

McCoy received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Hendrix College in Conway and a medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa. She spent two years’ residency at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tenn.

Remodeling and opening the 1,500-SF office cost less than $10,000, Mike McCoy estimated.
