The Wright market
The stock of Razorbacks closing pitcher Dan Wright is apparently on the upswing.
About 40 pro scouts attended Arkansas’ Feb. 6 season-opening victory over Missouri Southern. A wave of radar guns bobbed behind home plate with every pitch the junior made. Wright’s fastball clocked consistently in the 90-mile-per-hour range.
The Batesville native was offered a hefty signing bonus out of high school as a 19th-round draft pick by the Cleveland Indians, but turned it down to play at Arkansas.
Word is the offering price and round Wright is chosen in will both be a bit higher this time around.
