As the Internet grows, the relationship between businesses and the ‘Net compounds. Small businesses can offer merchandise and services on-line while avoiding the overhead costs of rent and utilities. Giggles is a smaller business that has taken advantage of the Internet’s capabilities.

Children’s styles of fancy clothing and pageant dresses can be viewed and ordered online, and owner Linda Phillips’ prices stay down.

“We found it was really hard to find quality but affordable clothes here in Northwest Arkansas,” Phillips says. “Online seemed like the way to go. We’ve not met any obstacles, yet.”

Before Phillips offered the reasonably priced clothing on the Internet, people on the pageant circuit had to drive to Dallas or Tulsa for the dresses, Phillips says.

Offering accessories and clothing for boys and girls, the online service allows customers to see photographs of the outfits before ordering.

Phillips’ daughter, Kim Smith, manages the business, and the two hope to expand the business within the year. For a fee, a video catalog soon will be available to customers, and the expense of the video will be deducted from the order.
