Rush Running is Expanding

Bentonville store Rush Running Co., which sells a wide range of running shoes and apparel, will open a Fayetteville location in mid-October to coincide with this year’s Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival.

Drew Conner, who manages the Bentonville store, said the new store will be on College Avenue near Evelyn Hills Shopping Center.

Although Conner preferred not to give the exact address, Whispers hears the new store will be in the former Acropolis, at 1618 N. College Ave. Oelke Construction Co. of Rogers took out a $7,000 building permit Aug. 30 for alterations to that building.

Property records show the 1,700-SF building, built in 1972, is owned by Bob Hopmann.

Conner said many customers and most of the 12 staff members at the Bentonville store live in Fayetteville, but added the store at 2212 S. Walton Blvd. is a great location for them and will remain “Store No. 1.”

Mike and Alison Rush, who own Rush Running, both ran for the University of Arkansas.
