Small business workshop to focus on occupational fraud

The Family Enterprise Center at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will explore the issue of internal control and loss prevention in a small business workshop Nov. 17.
 
The three-hour workshop, presented in cooperation with the accounting firm of Beall Barclay and Co., PLC and the UAFS accounting faculty, begins at 7:45 a.m. in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.
 
The workshop will cover the nature of occupational fraud and will present practical applications for establishing policies and procedures for limiting or preventing losses. Participants will be provided with practical examples of organizational techniques and accounting procedures for offices of varying staff sizes that can be put into effect immediately.
 
This program is free to FEC members. Cost for non-members is $50 per person. A continental breakfast will be provided and participants are encouraged to arrive early to facilitate parking.
