Sen. Pryor Delivers Check For $10 Million To Pine Bluff Arsenal
The Pine Bluff Arsenal received a $10 million check for funding from Sen. Mark Pryor on Thursday.
The money was part of the FY2014 Omnibus Appropriations Bill supported by four members of the state’s Congressional delegation – Sens. Boozman (R) and Pryor (D) and Congressmen Griffin (R) and Womack (R). It was opposed by Congressmen Tom Cotton (R) and Rick Crawford (R).
Pryor advocated to place the funding in the spending measure through his position on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
“Pine Bluff Arsenal is both a vital national security asset and a strong economic engine in the region. That’s why I’ve been working hard to increase its workload, maintain good-paying and skilled jobs while ensuring national security demands can be met in the future. This funding helps connect the dots,” Pryor said.
“The funds will be used to maintain critical manufacturing capability for our ammunition and chemical defense processes,” said Col. Chad Bauld, the Arsenal Commander. “The funding will play an important role in helping insure the Arsenal’s future during periods of defense downsizing.”
