Heber Springs Mayor Jackie McPherson To Challenge Cong. Crawford
Heber Springs Mayor Jackie McPherson announced he would run as a Democrat for the First Congressional District seat, challenging two-term incumbent Cong. Rick Crawford (R).
McPherson said he would bring “the values of hard work, bipartisan problem-solving leadership” back to Congress.
“I know the values of the of the First Congressional District because I’ve lived them. I worked hard on the assembly line and in the restaurant business and I will bring that same Arkansas work ethic back to Washington,” McPherson said. “As mayor, I served the people of this city and got things done by working with everyone, regardless of whether they were a Democrat or a Republican – but that type of bipartisan leadership is missing from Congress. We need a new voice who will do what we did in Heber Springs: work hard and bring folks together, so that we can finally stop the finger-pointing and get Congress focused on solving problems that matter.”
McPherson has served as mayor of Heber Springs since 2007, after serving on the City Council for 12 years. Describing himself as a “fiscal conservative,” McPherson has lived in Heber Springs since 1964.
He currently lives in Heber Springs with his wife, Vicki. The McPherson’s have three children and two grandchildren.
