KARK, Talk Business To Launch Sunday Morning Politics Program
KARK is set to launch a weekly political roundtable show next Sunday (April 14) focused on issues that impact Arkansans. The broadcast, titled “Capitol View,” will be hosted by David Goins and Roby Brock.
It will air Sundays at 8:30 a.m. right before NBC’s “Meet the Press.” The broadcast will feature political discussion and debate, interviews with newsmakers, and a look at the key political issues that dominated headlines the previous week.
“We’re excited about the ability to expand our political coverage and discussion of the issues that truly matter in the lives of our viewers,” said KARK General Manager Mike Vaughn. “This broadcast also reinforces our commitment to being Your Local Election Headquarters.”
The show launches a new partnership between KARK 4 News and Roby Brock. Brock is the executive editor of TalkBusinessArkansas.com and host of the television show Talk Business Arkansas, which will continue to air Sunday nights at 10 p.m. on KLRT Fox 16. For two decades, Brock has worked in and around Arkansas politics and is considered a trusted source for unbiased political journalism.
“KARK certainly values our new partnership with Roby,” said KARK News Director Austin Kellerman. “Roby brings insight and experience to the table that few other people have. We’re proud to welcome him to the KARK family.”
“This new program, Capitol View, will be a great format for digging deeper into the ever-changing arena of Arkansas politics. With 2014 being such a high-profile election year, I’m looking forward to sharing news and analysis with KARK’s viewers,” Brock said.
Brock will be joined weekly by co-host David Goins. Goins was recently named KARK’s political reporter and provides coverage from the capitol to stations across Arkansas. In Central Arkansas, Goins’ reports can be seen on both KARK and Fox 16.
“Notwithstanding additional web content, there is only so much information you can put into daily television stories. This is a great opportunity to enhance the breadth of our coverage for KARK viewers,” Goins said.
The show’s format will feature panelist discussions that include elected leaders and pundits across the political spectrum. Capitol View will also interview candidates and elected officials in a one-on-one format. Additionally, Goins and Brock will offer analysis and commentary on selective political topics.
“This is a forum that puts the viewer first. What happens inside the state capitol has wide ranging effects on the daily lives of every Arkansan,” Goins said. “Capitol View bridges the gap between policy discussion and the decisions affecting everything from your safety, your child’s education to your pocketbook.”
“I hope viewers will interact with us to ask questions they want to see answered by their elected officials and those seeking office,” said Brock. “With Arkansas undergoing a transformation in its political landscape, Capitol View will be a great forum for digging deeper into issues that impact Arkansans’ daily lives.”
With the addition of Capitol View at 8:30 a.m., “Today” will transition to a start time of 7 a.m. “In Search” will air at 8 a.m. right before Capitol View.
