EGS Wagers At Oaklawn, Southland Near $2 Billion Mark For 2012

As witnessed all year, Oaklawn and Southland continue to rack up steady year-over-year increases in wagers bet at their casino-style electronic games of skill (EGS) operations.
The latest data for August released by the Arkansas Racing Commission shows that total EGS wagers at the two racetracks eclipsed $1.81 billion. Based on current performance levels, the two operations should easily break the $2 billion barrier year-to-date in September.
At Hot Springs-based Oaklawn, EGS wagers hit $79.7 million in August 2012, up 30% from August 2011.
At West Memphis-based Southland, EGS wagers cleared $151.3 million during the month of August, an improvement of 32% from one year ago.
EGS wagers include gambling spent on video blackjack, poker, slot machines and other casino-style games.
