Hyde Settles Ethics Charges With Commission
Rep. Barry Hyde (D-North Little Rock) settled three violations with the Arkansas Ethics Commission after the state Republican Party accused him of improper disclosure and spending actions.
Rob Moritz with our content partner, the Arkansas News Bureau, reports:
Hyde signed a “written offer of settlement” Friday acknowledging three violations, including:
- Failure to timely report expenditures made for the unpaid campaign expenses remaining after the election on the final campaign contribution and expenditure report for the 2010 general election.
- Failure to make a timely disposition of surplus campaign funds for the 2010 general election.
- Failure to timely report on the final 2010 campaign and expenditure report the methods by which the surplus campaign funds were disposed.
The state Ethics Commission issued Hyde a letter of caution and fined him $150, Graham Sloan, the agency’s executive director, said Monday.
Hyde is running for the Arkansas State Senate, District 34. He is being challenged by Rep. Jane English (R-North Little Rock).
