Danfoss Scroll, an air conditioner compressor manufacturer, says it will lay off up to 100 workers at its Arkadelphia facility.

In essence, the company’s third shift will be eliminated permanently or until market conditions improve, according to this report from The Arkadelphia Siftings Herald.

Paul Dean, General Manager of Danfoss Scroll in Arkadelphia, said the lay off went into effect last Thursday.

“We have experienced a slow-down in our commercial compressor business over the past several months associated with the seasonality of the industry,” Dean said in a press release. “Danfoss management team in Arkadelphia must align our operation to meet the market demand.”

“We are operating in an unstable market. The nature of our business historically has been slow this time of year but we just don’t know (if another layoff will occur),” Dean said.
