Avery Elected New President Of Arkansas Young Repbulicans

The Arkansas Federation of Young Republicans (AFYR) met last weekend in Rogers and elected new officiers.  Elizabeth Aymond, who had served as President for the last two years, passed the torch to Jack Avery of Fayetteville.

"When I was elected as Arkansas Young Republicans Chair, Arkansas was a deep blue state, the President was as popular as ever, and liberal policies coming out of the Governor’s and other Constitutional offices were largely unchecked," said Aymond in an e-mail to Arkansas Young Republicans. "Now, at the end of my term, we are changing the path of this state with true fiscal conservative leadership, the chances of a one-term President are looking better every day, and we have given notice to those elected officials that wish to enforce big government, big spending policies on our generation that we will no longer stand idly by while our future is squandered away."

Aymond currently works for Americans for Prosperity-Arkansas.

Jack Avery is no stranger to Republican politics having served as the National Committeeman for AFYR since 2009.  He also serves as the state committeeman for the Washington County Republican Committee and was elected a constable in 2010.  He previously interned for Senator Richard G. Lugar of Indiana and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“The Arkansas Federation of Young Republicans will serve as an integral part in helping defeat Barack Obama in 2012 and take the majority in the State Legislature,” said Republican Party of Arkansas Chairman Doyle Webb. “Their team will help ensure we have boots on the ground to carry out an effective statewide operation to elect Republicans at every level of government.”

Also elected was First Vice Chair Andrew Clark of Hot Springs, Second Vice Chair Sarah Drye of Maumelle, Secretary Stacey Utley of Little Rock, Treasurer Luke McCoy of Sherwood, National Committeeman Brett Hooton of Bryant, and National Committeewoman Alison Melder of Little Rock.
