Fort Smith Art Center August Exhibit and Reception

The Fort Smith Art Center invites the public to a the July exhibit highlighting work by Jimmy Leach.
Mr. Leach lives in Northeastern Oklahoma and is inspired by the beauty of nature. His primary focus is acrylic paintings of Impressionistic and Expressionistic landscape. He writes that “I strive to take the viewer’s mind and eye to anther place, showing them a beautiful expressive and painterly image.”

The exhibit is being sponsored by Central Arkansas Nursing Center.

The photography exhibit will feature works by Janet Lyle in the Stairwell Gallery and Mark Franz in the Upstairs Gallery.

Both the reception on Thursday, August 6th from 5-7 pm and month-long exhibit are free of charge and the public is invited.

Fort Smith Art Center is located at 423 North Sixth Street in the Belle Grove Historic District of downtown Fort Smith, a few blocks north of Garrison Avenue. The Art Center has been open since 1961. Its mission is to showcase the visual arts and to foster appreciation of all art for all people. Regular open hours are Thursday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The Art Center’s Gift Gallery showcases the work of over 100 different artists, including pottery, jewelry, glassware, garden art, photographs and paintings at a range of prices. The Fort Smith Art Center is supported in part by grants from the city of Fort Smith and the Arkansas Arts Council, a division of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
