Jason Enloe wins Fort Smith Classic in playoff; captures $99,000 purse

Jason Enloe, a 1996 graduate of Southern Methodist University, is the winner of the 2009 Fort Smith Classic, according to a statement from tour officials.

Enloe, a native of Decatur, Ill., ended regulation play on Sunday (June 21) tied at 15 under with Chris Tidland of Torrance, Calif. Enloe won the one-hole playoff on the 18th to capture the Fort Smith Classic trophy.

Coming into the Fort Smith Classic, Enloe was ranked 14th on the Nationwide Tour money list with $115,922, and Tidland was ranked 5th on the tour’s money list with $147,750 in winnings. The announced purse for the Fort Smith Classic was $99,000.

“As the Fort Smith Classic comes to a close we must congratulate and thank all of our volunteers. You put on a great tournament this week and you have carried on the Fort Smith Classic’s long tradition of being one of the best stops on the Nationwide Tour. Thank you,” noted a statement from Fort Smith Classic officials.

Another winner was Fort Smith businessman Butch Edwards who was named the 2009 Nationwide Insurance All Star Volunteer. Edwards serves as the Tee & Ice chair for the Fort Smith Classic.
