Tolbert: GOP AG Group Up With Ad For Rutledge
We have seen a plethora of outside groups hit Arkansas airwaves in the last few months, especially in the U.S. Senate and the Governor’s races. Now, the Republican Attorney General’s Association is joining in the fun as well with a new ad for Leslie Rutledge.
The ad features Rutledge sitting in a dinner with two salt shakers discussing how far apart Arkansas values are from Washington D.C. values.
“Did you know it is over a thousand miles from Arkansas to Washington,” says Rutledge separating the salt shakers. “But Washington’s ideas are a lot further away than that. From Obamacare to the EPA’s burdensome regulations on Arkansas farmers, big government is running the country into a ditch. I am Leslie Rutledge and I have had enough. I will stand up to Obama and fight for Arkansas values. It’s about time we give them a new direction.”
It’s a pretty good ad with a positive feel. It allows Rutledge to frame her race as being against Obama without ever mentioning her Democratic opponent, Nate Steel. And it looks like it will have enough dollars behind it – more than $65,000 on KATV – at least to get through some of the millions being spent on all the other races.
The latest financial filings showed Steel with a significant money advantage but – unless Democratic outside groups also get involved – RAGA’s help could close this gap.
