Barbara Jean Shotzman-Wagoner of Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was born on September 23, 1940, in Van Buren, Arkansas, to the late Samuel Drewie Hodges and Leona Fay (Cox) Hodges. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Harold Dean Shotzman and Doye Wagoner; three sisters, Beverly Hodges, Glenda (Suzie) Rice and Alma Parish; and two brothers, Wayne Hodges and Robert Hodges.
Barbara truly loved the Lord and served Him faithfully her entire life. She was a member of Charleston Freewill Baptist Church. She started teaching Sunday school at the age of 17 and did so until late in her 70’s. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary and worked in any capacity that the Church needed her. She especially loved crocheting baby blankets for the newborn babies. She was also just as devoted to her entire family. She loved them sacrificially, and no matter how tired she might be she was always there if they needed her.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Bro. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
She is survived by three sons, Dean Shotzman and wife Deanna of Charleston, Richard Shotzman and wife Gail of Charleston, and Shawn Shotzman and Gill Brown of Dallas, Texas; three step-children, Dale Wagoner, Deborah Wagoner and Aaron Wagoner; five sisters, Monett Parrish of Fort Smith, Kathleen Barnes and husband Johnny of Van Buren, Donna Jackson and husband Kelley of Ozark, Frances Bauer and husband Dennis of Fort Smith, and Debra Bond of Natural Dam; (8) grandchildren; and (20) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Cullen Shotzman, Eli Shotzman, Hayden Gilstrap, Andrew Wagoner, Brady Jones, and Dakota Jones.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
