Jean Marie Walters

Jean Marie Walters, 77, passed from this life on September 13, 2025. She was born in Seattle, Washington, on February 1, 1948, to Wilbur and Wilma McWilliams. Jean was a cherished wife to Kevin Walters, a beloved mother to Karla Nichols, Kelly Leatherwood, and Jonathan Walters, and a dear sister to Wanda Wedel.

She was also an adored granny to Beau Douglas, Briley Witt, Lauren Schwartz, Landry Leatherwood, and Winifred Witt. Jean graduated from Northside High School in 1966. She received her nursing degree from WestArk Community College. She deeply enjoyed her long nursing career, having spent most of her time in geriatrics. Jean loved to go camping, fishing, and swimming. She treasured spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, AR 72904. The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place following the services at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 4211 State Line Road in Fort Smith. Pastor Mason Smith is to officiate, with pallbearers being Jonathan Walters, Dan Nichols, Josh Witt, Kevin Leatherwood, and Josh Hand.
