After a Courageous battle with cancer, Harriett Sherman, 84 passed away peacefully surrounded by family; Sunday, August 10th 2025, in the loving home of her daughter (Teresa) in Van Buren, Ar. She was a retired Executive Secretary for the Arkansas Governor’s office. She and her late husband (Bob) were longtime members at 2nd Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Just like her husband she had an unwavering faith in God and relied on God’s word that says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty, I will say to the Lord “My refuge and my Fortress, my God, in whom I trust!”.
She was preceded in death by her husband James (Bob) Robert Sherman; her parents Harry & Mary (King) Witt. She is survived by two daughters Teresa Sowell and Lisa Roderick (Harry); four grandchildren Heather, Ryan, Amber, Houston, three great grandchildren Ziga, Rylee, Zoe; and her loved grand dog Rory.
Visitation/ viewing will be on Saturday Aug. 23rd, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson Street Van Buren. Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Little Rock, under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home Van Buren.
