Billy Murel Grill, 79, of Van Buren passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born in Paris, AR to the late Lewis and Juanita (Carpenter) Grill on June 21, 1946. Bill had a long and fulfilling career in law enforcement first as a Van Buren Police officer, a Crawford County Deputy and later the Crawford County Sheriff. Later in life he again served his county when he was elected as a Justice of the Peace and served on the quorum court. From an early age, he loved to play the guitar. Playing music brought him tremendous joy. He played the steel guitar in several country music bands, the most recent being The Lawman Band. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe; two sisters, Velda Mae and Mary; and a grandson, Tyler Laxton.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Glenda of the home; two daughters, Shannon Grill of Van Buren, Kim Garcia and husband Doug of Alma; a son, Brent Grill of Van Buren; two sisters, Melba Elrod of Holiday, FL and Barbara Hoover and husband Bob of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Arron, Whitney, Taylor (Zac), Kasey (Tyler),
Hunter (Molly) and Drew (Harley); twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday August 22, 2025 at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery with Arkansas Sheriffs Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Nelson, Drew Garcia, Hunter Grill, Zac McKenna, Xander Newberry and Connor Newberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Ayden Laxton and Adriyanna Laxton.

The family will visit with relatives and friends from 4-6 P.M. on Thursday August 21, 2025 at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St.
