James Hoang Tran

James Hoang Tran, 69, of Fort Smith passed away on Thursday August 7, 2025 in a local hospital. He was born April 8, 1956 in Ban Mê Thuột, Vietnam to He and Biet Tran. He was a real estate investor and a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Huoc, Hoanh and Hoan Tran.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Tran of the home; one daughter, Mary Cotta and her husband Joe of Fort Smith; four sons, Joe Tran of Houston, TX, Kendall Tran and his wife Adriana of Orlando, FL, Johnathon Tran and his wife Kaily of Rogers, AR and Jeremy Tran of St. Petersburg, FL; four sisters, Van Tran and her husband Thanh Dao, Nga Tran and her husband Trong Nguyen, Phuong Tran and her husband Son Tran all of Fort Smith and Hang Pham and her husband Hien Pham of Boston, MA; one brother, Ross Huan Tran and his wife Sonia Lan Tran of Wylie, TX; two sister in-laws, Tuom Vu and Tuyet Nguyen and nine grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday August 16, 2025 at the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church Parish Hall with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Barling under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Visitations will be held on Thursday and Friday 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home 4500 Jenny Lind Road Fort Smith, AR 72901.
