Thomas Glenn Tyson, 77, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in Fort Smith. Born on October 9, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas, Tom began his military service in March of 1966 and proudly served in the United States Army. He completed multiple tours in Vietnam, where he served with honor and courage, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat.

After retirement, he embraced his love for the outdoors by becoming a trout guide. He was passionate about hunting and fishing, and those who knew him will always remember his deep connection to nature and quiet strength.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, William and Billie Tyson and his sister, Kathy Tyson. He is survived by his son, Robbie Tyson and daughter-in-law, Stephanie; his brothers, Tim Tyson (Rosana) and Bill Tyson (Georgie); his grandchildren, Saige Shoffner and Caroline Tyson and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors to honor Tom’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 12 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Monday from 12 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Saige Shoffner, Geoffrey Tyson, Brian Tyson, Jonathan Tyson, William “Jackson” Stroud and Ben Brock.
