James Russell McCarty (Jimmy to his family), 77 years old, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, a Vietnam Veteran, died Sunday, July 20, 2025. James was the son of James and Grace McCarty of Stuttgart. James was born September 18, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

James was a barber, mainly in Stuttgart, for 52 years. His barber shop was a gathering place for customers, friends and family. If you wanted to know what was going on…..just visit the barber shop.

James loved being around his family and loved reunions, family holidays, and holidays. He went on many competitive fishing trips with his dad and brother-in-law, George. He was a self taught artist of leather craft and wood craft. Many creations were gifted to friends and family. James especially enjoyed raising vegetables and beautiful flowers and plants. His illness did not stop him from putting in walkways and flower beds, and creating leather craft, and wood craft. The illness just slowed him down. He was a very giving person. Many times he would visit his customers who were ill and give them a haircut and visit with them.

James had a love of nature and loved going exploring beautiful places in Arkansas with family and friends. His favorite place was Jasper, Arkansas. He especially loved and was so proud of his daughters, Shanna and Sandi, and his granddaughter, Lilly. He was always happy to show pictures and bring you up to date on how they were and what they were doing. “Uncle Jimmy” was a wonderful uncle to his niece, Alison, and his nephew, Bert. Above all, James loved the Lord.
