The Thaden School announced Thursday (July 18) the site for its new Lower School campus, which will be located on 10th and Benton St., directly south of the current Thaden School campus in Bentonville.

The expansion will include the renovation of the previous Olivet offices and surrounding grounds, adding five acres to Thaden’s 30-acre campus.

“We are excited to establish this dedicated campus for our Lower School where we will continue to provide an exceptional educational environment that nurtures curiosity and discovery from an early age.” said Head of School Michael Maloy.

Construction on the Lower School campus is scheduled to begin in January 2025, with an anticipated completion in the fall of 2026.

The land purchase and construction costs are being funded by Olivia and Tom Walton and Kelly and Steuart Walton. After the Lower School campus is completed, the buildings and land will be donated to Thaden School.

“With a vast amount of green space, our campus will provide many areas for scientific exploration, nature play, games, outdoor meals, and quiet times. Through these experiences, students will grow stronger academically, physically, and socially,” said Melissa Sherman, Founding Head of the Lower School.

Founded in 2017 in downtown Bentonville, Thaden School is an independent school currently serving grades K-1 and 6-12 with plans to expand to a fully integrated K-12 school by the 2026-27 academic year.
