The U.S. Department of Commerce announced Tuesday (April 9) it has awarded a $1.7 million grant to Searcy County in north central Arkansas to support manufacturing business growth.

This Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant will renovate a building in Marshall, Arkansas to support the establishment of a frozen foods manufacturing facility, creating jobs, and growing the local economy.

“President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is about ensuring communities in Arkansas and across the country have the resources needed to create jobs and create economic opportunity,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

“This EDA investment will increase growth in the manufacturing sector by bringing good, quality, high-paying jobs that will better support families and strengthen the regional economy,” she added.

This project is funded by the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act of 2019, which provided EDA with $600 million in additional Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) Program funds for disaster relief and recovery for areas affected by hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and floods.
