Incumbents prevail in legislative primaries

Incumbents prevailed or led in all Republican and Democratic legislative races on Tuesday (March 5). Results are unofficial and incomplete. Early returns from the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office showed the following results in Senate and House races.

SENATE
There were two Republican State Senate primaries on Election Day.

Senate District 3, Sen. Steve Crowell, R-Magnolia, defeated challenger Mark Silvey with 71% of the vote.

Senator Dave Wallace, R-Leachville, defeated challenger Dr. Wayne Wagner with 70% of the vote.

HOUSE
There were a number of Republican and Democratic primary House races on Tuesday. Among Republican primaries:

House District 4
Jason Nazarenko led Justice Think Albright 1,445-662.

House District 14
Nick Burkes led Joshua Hagan 1,309-963.

House District 17
Randy Torres led Jeremy Criner 2,318-1,256.

House District 27
Rep. Steven Walker led Timmy Reid 771-639 with 75% of precincts reporting.

House District 30
Rep. Fran Cavenaugh led Coty Powers 1582-773.

House District 32
Rep. Jack Ladyman led Brandt Smith 947-801.

House District 41
Alyssa Brown led Jerry Holmes 3,949-2,354.

House District 51
Rep. Cindy Crawford led Jeff Burks 2,573-759.

House District 83
Paul Childress defeated Ken Yang 3,648-1,469.

House District 88
Arnetta Bradford led Dolly Henley 1,380-1,319 with 67% of the precincts counted. Robert Leslie Bradford trailed in third place with 215 votes.

In the Democratic primaries:

House District 15
Stephanie Funk led Erin Lee Underhill 436-65.

House District 56
Rep. Steve Magie led Queen Lakeslia Mosley 811-318.

House District 62
Kellee Mitchell Farris led Dexter Miller 537-444.

House District 65
Glenn Barnes led Kanisher Wooten Caldwell 1803-972.

House District 76
Rep. Joy Springer led Ryan David 992-825. Kia Sprinkle Wilson finished third with 129 votes.

House District 77
Rep. Fred Allen defeated Grant Smith 1,883-296.

House District 80
Rep. Denise Ennett defeated Roosevelte Williams III 1,401-774.
