Hutchinson files for New Hampshire primary

Despite lagging in the polls and missing the second nationally-televised GOP Presidential debate, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson moved forward with his long-shot candidacy for U.S. President.

Hutchinson jumped into the GOP Presidential race in late April vowing to move past divisive politics.

On Wednesday (Oct. 11), Hutchinson officially filed paperwork for the New Hampshire primary, which will be the first primary election held for the party nominations for President. New Hampshire’s primary is on February 6, 2024.

“For over 100 years, New Hampshire has served as the first in the nation primary where they have been responsible for interviewing presidential candidates and narrowing the field for the rest of the nation. Today, I am honoring that tradition by filing my candidacy for the New Hampshire Primary Election,” Hutchinson said.

“In America, our leaders should have an understanding of the struggles of American families. The presidency should be a reflection of who we are as Americans. It is about character, hard work and a true representation of blue-collar American values. Even at this moment, many of my primary opponents are in Utah meeting with mega-donors attempting to narrow the primary field by themselves. This brash usurpation of the voters’ right and response is what is wrong with modern-day presidential politics. The presidency should not be determined by the few but rather judged by the many.

“I know what it means to live paycheck-to-paycheck, just like so many Americans are doing right now. I was raised on a farm and started my family in a double-wide mobile home. I have blue-collar roots and I am proud to be running a campaign focused on direct outreach to voters and sharing my vision on how to bring out America’s best,” he said.

Hutchinson faces a crowded field of Republican opponents. So far, there are 11 Republicans who have announced for President, while an additional two have dropped out of the race already.
