Beckmann Volmer Breaks Ground On $12 Million Phase One Project

In May 2010, Beckmann Volmer, a manufacturer of major steel components for wind turbines, announced it would locate a $17 million factory in Osceola employing nearly 500 workers.

Today, company officials and state leaders broke ground on phase one of that project, a $12 million facility that will employ about 300 workers. Beckmann Volmer is a direct supplier to Nordex, which has a manufacturing facility in Jonesboro, along with several additional wind-energy companies.
 
“I see this as a beginning of a long-lasting relationship with the city of Osceola, the state of Arkansas, and the whole United States,” said Bernd Volmer, managing director and co-owner of Beckmann Volmer. “Arkansas is a leader in wind energy manufacturing and we hope that our presence and success will persuade many more manufacturing companies to follow.”

Beckmann Volmer officials said they will consider phase two of the project, an additional $7.5 million investment and the hiring of 200 more employees, after phase one is completed.

Employees at the Osceola plant will produce turbine main frames – the structural backbone of the turbine.
 
Headquartered in Germany, Beckmann Volmer also has operations in Poland and China in addition to Arkansas. The company was founded in 1995 with four employees and now employs more than 650 worldwide.
