University of Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek and his wife Jennifer recently paid $1.35 million for a two-story, 4,540-square-foot house in downtown Fayetteville’s Washington-Willow Historic District.

According to county property records, the deal closed in early July. Philip Massey and Elise Wagner were the sellers.

Springdale-based Legacy National Bank backed the deal with a one-year loan worth $1.6 million. Realty Title & Closing Services of Springdale was the title agent.

Katie Mihalevich with Flyer Homes Real Estate in Fayetteville was the listing agent. Martha Haguewood with Lindsey & Associates in Fayetteville represented the buyer.

Yurachek, 54, has been UA’s athletic director since December 2017 after spending nearly three years as the athletic director at the University of Houston. His initial five-year contract with the UA was worth $850,000 annually, reportedly nearly double his UH salary.

In February 2022, Yurachek signed a five-year contract extension to bump his salary to $1.25 million annually. Later that year, UA officials amended the contract to increase Yurachek’s annual salary to $1.5 million after Auburn University reportedly offered him $2 million to be the school’s athletic director.

The Yurachek’s Eastlake Victorian-style home, less than 2 miles from the Frank Broyles Athletic Center on the UA campus, is on a 0.59-acre lot and was built in 1896. Massey and Wagner paid $949,900 for the four-bedroom property in October 2021 and completed numerous upgrades and improvements.

Haguewood listed Yurachek’s former Fayetteville residence, which has 7,068 square feet and four bedrooms, for sale this week with an asking price of $2.25 million. The property, on North Montview Drive in the Summersby neighborhood on the city’s east side, has a 2023 appraised value of $1.47 million, according to county property records.

The two-story home was built in 2009. Yurachek paid $1.2 million for the 0.58-acre property in June 2018.
