Arkansas artist Shea Hembrey recently presented a TED Talk titled “How I became 100 artists,” about the catalogue for the international biennial Seek, whose inaugural exhibition showcases the work of 100 artists. Yet this catalogue is completely fictional — invented by Hembrey, who created all the actual artworks, many of which were made while he was working in Arkansas. Get Hembrey’s unique perspective on art-making in this interview with the audience on inventing yourself as an artist on a global scale. Crystal Bridges Library has recently acquired a copy of Hembrey’s exhibition catalogue.
