Desmond Shawe-Taylor, Curator of the Royal Collection; and Anna Somers-Cocks, longtime editor of The Art Newspaper. Crystal Bridges Executive Director Don Bacigalupi will lead this interesting interview-style presentation, and facilitate an audience question-and-answer period afterward. Desmond Shawe-Taylor manages one of the world’s most prestigious and important art collections, that of H M Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. It reveals fashions and taste in art from the 16th century to the present day. Anna Somers-Cocks, through her editorship of the globally influential publication The Art Newspaper, has an astonishing knowledge of how public and private collections are developing in the modern era. These two distinguished individuals will describe trends both specific and general in a spirited and lively conversation. The presentation is made possible by three partnering institutions, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art; The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman, Oklahoma; and CityArts Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
