ABF receives supply chain security award
Fort Smith-based ABF Freight System has earned the 2012 Excellence in Claims and Loss Prevention Award from the American Trucking Associations’ Supply Chain Security and Loss Prevention Council, thus becoming the only six-time winner of this prestigious award.
“We recognize that each pallet, carton or box is a critical part of our customers’ business and livelihood, and we act accordingly,” ABF President and CEO Roy Slagle said in a statement. “Our supervisors and managers ensure that each ABF employee understands proper cargo handling, with experienced dock employees mentoring new hires. When specific challenges or opportunities arise, we use focus groups and the ABF Quality Process to address the root causes. This approach has positioned ABF as the foremost provider when it comes to delivering shipments on time, intact, and damage free.”
The ATA Excellence in Claims and Loss Prevention is the only nationally recognized award of its kind. Motor carriers of all types and sizes compete for this prominent award that pays homage to those companies that have set the bar for claims management, loss prevention and damage control.
The ATA Supply Chain Security and Loss Prevention Council serves, promotes, and creates value for members and the industry through research, education, training and peer interaction. The American Trucking Associations is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry.
