Springdale-based Harps Food Stores announced Wednesday it will close its store at 1617 Zero Street in Fort Smith, according to this report from KFSM 5 News.

“Fort Smith will continue to be an important market for Harps with 3 store locations,” said Roger Collins, Harps CEO, said in a statement sent to 5NEWS.

Continuing, Collins noted: “Many of the employees at Price Cutter will be absorbed at the remaining Harps stores. We are aggressively looking for other alternatives as Harps continues to grow at a rapid pace. While we deeply regret the closing, we hope that our customers will find an existing Harps location so that we can continue to serve them.”

Other Harps Stores in Fort Smith include Harps #137 at 2507 Market Trace; Harps Marketplace #172 at 3100 Grand Ave.; and Harps Marketplace #174 at 3401 S. 74th St.

The company also operates a Harps Food Store in Alma, Poteau and Van Buren.

With the closure of the Zero Street store, Harps will operate 47 food stores in Arkansas. The company also has seven stores in Missouri and nine in Oklahoma.
