Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing June 1st Saturday
During the summer on the 1st Saturday of the month, The Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing opens its demonstration gardens to the public. June’s 1st Saturday will be June 4, 2011 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
We’re inviting you to the Open House to tour our demonstratin gardens, learn a little bit more about the gardens, and enjoy refreshments. This Saturday, we’ll talk about "Native Arkansas Plants", "Blackberry Growing 101", and will have a dedication and ribbon-cutting of The Learning Fields section of the Chaffee Crossing walking trail at 10:30. This Saturday is also "Chaffee Appreciation Day" for the non-profits located in Chaffee Crossing. A special treat for those attending this Saturday will be music by Hank McMurtery.
The Learning Fields at Chaffee Crossing is a project of the River Valley Master Gardeners. An educational venue with demonstration gardens to share the joy of gardening has been created through this project. The River Valley Master Gardeners works with the University of Arkansas Extension Service to provide gardening education and beautification projects in the River Valley. The Learning Fields combines these two goals in one beautiful setting. The aim of this project is to provide classroom and hands on gardening education.
So join us on Saturday, June 4 and see what all the fuss is about.
Directions: From Fort Smith and Barling: Take the first right after the RR tracks on Hwy 22. From Charleston: Take the first left before the RR tracks on Hwy 22 as you near Barling. That street is Mahogany. Continue on Mahogany and take the third right (which is Tuscany). Go about halfway down the block and make a left onto Gardeners Avenue. You are there!
