The Fort Smith Rotary Club is holding its annual Four-Way speech contest Jan. 22 at the main branch of the Fort Smith Public Library.

The contest is open to any high school students, with first place awarding $500, second place awarding $250 and $100 given to the third place winner.

Students are asked to incorporate each part of the Rotary four-way test into their speeches. The four-way test is:
• Is it the truth?;
• Is it fair to all concerned?:
• Will it build goodwill and better friendships?; and,
• Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The speech must be between five and seven minutes long. Points will be deducted
for speeches that are either shorter or longer than the allotted time.

Innovation and creativity is encouraged, and the speech can be humorous or
serious, current or historical, commonplace or unique.

The winner of the Fort Smith Rotary Club speech contest will compete with the winner of the Southside (Fort Smith) Rotary Club to determine who represents Fort Smith in the Rotary District 6110 competition. The district winner receives $1,000. Link here for a video of the speech from the recent district winner.

Registration forms may be obtained in the admin offices of Fort Smith schools.
