Metroplan panel discussion to reunite Dailey, Hays and Villines
Metroplan, the Central Arkansas planning association of local governments that has operated by inter-local agreement since 1955, will host a panel discussion with former Little Rock Mayor Jim Dailey, former North Little Rock Mayor Pat Hays and former Pulaski County Judge Buddy Villines to reflect on the 25-year history of civic projects that have shaped a number of public investments in the region.
The panel, which will be moderated by Steve Barnes, will take place at the Ron Robinson Theater on Monday (Oct. 21) at 6 p.m.
The talk will center around the Metro 2020 Plan, which played a role directly and indirectly in historic projects like the Big Dam Bridge, the River Rail streetcar, the River Market District, as well as freeway widenings, and intersection and street improvements across Central Arkansas.
The free-ranging discussion will welcome questions from the public, with insights into past and future.
In advance of the event, Metroplan has released a “Horizon 2020” report, which reviews the accomplishments and failures of the last quarter century.
Tab Townsell, former Mayor of Conway and the current executive director for Metroplan, sat down with Talk Business & Politics Roby Brock for a discussion on the upcoming panel and the Horizon report.
