Former President George W. Bush visited Bentonville on Monday (Nov. 22) to promote his book at the Walmart home office.

"I have written a book about the presidency which has caused some palpitation around our country who didn’t think I could read much less write," Bush said, according to a report from KFSM 5 News, a content parter with The City Wire.

Close to 1,000 associates listened to Bush in person, while thousands of others watched via TV around the world.

Bush’s new book is called Decision Points. He said the main purpose of the book is too explain some of the very difficult decisions he had to make while president.

"It’s the environment in which I made the decisions is just as important as the process in which I made decisions," Bush said.

Bush said one of the most important chapters is the one regarding the removal of Saddam Hussein.

"I solely believe it was his choice to make, he had the choice, he made the wrong decision," said Bush.

However, President Bush did acknowledge that he made some mistakes, such as the "Mission Accomplished" sign aboard the aircraft carrier.

The former President also talked candidly about his new life not in the spotlight, for instance walking his dog Barney.

"He spots my neighbor’s yard … former President Bush with a plastic bag on his hand," Bush explained.

Bush said as far the current presidency and political climate, it’s best he doesn’t get involved.

"I don’t think it’s good for the presidency to have a former president out there undermining his successor, I know it’s not good for the country and I know how hard it is for the president to do his job and I don’t want to make it harder I want the man to succeed,” Bush told the Walmart audience.
